CSP - Secretarial Practices
CSP - Secretarial Practices is a career-oriented qualification which is awarded by both Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) and edexcel (London Exams board in UK). Students have the option to complete the course in six months under BTEB and/or edexcel. The qualification provides the opportunity to achieve both locally and internationally recognised qualification without additional study load.

The content of this section of CSP qualification includes: background of computer, input and output devices, basic concepts of computer software, introduction to computer system, windows tools and utilities, file manipulation, windows operating system customising and configuration, introduction to word-processing, document preparation, editing and printing using word-processor and typical usages of Microsoft word.
Content of this section of CSP qualification includes: evolution of shorthand, definition of shorthand, importance of shorthand, brief-form, phrase and practical demonstration of shorthand.
After completion of this section of CSP qualification, learners will be able to develop communication skills for business purposes, differentiate between different business letters, draft letters of quotations, tenders, enquiry, make advertisement, notices, memos, posters, and modify business letter.
Candidates tend to do well in identifying office machines but do less well in describing the facilities on the machines, apart from photocopiers. This part of the CSP qualification would familiarise the candidates with different Office equipments and hardware.
Candidates are generally soundly prepared for this syllabus topic area. Content of this section of CSP qualification includes: definition of an office, importance of an office, office functions, office departments, basis of divisions, Human Resource Management in office, office forms, office stationery, office space/location selection, office layout, indexing, postal communication, meetings, etc.
Content of this section of CSP qualification includes: different types of business organisations, sole-proprietorship firms, partnership firms, private limited companies, public limited companies, public sector organisations, co-operative societies, business financing, marketing, import trade, export trade, re-export, etc.
Secretarial and Professional practices
Content of this section of CSP qualification includes: professional duties and responsibilities of a secretary, decision making ability of a secretary, contingency management, seminar and meetings arrangement and moderation, office inspection, inspection report writing, note-taking skills, techniques of note-taking, characteristics of a secretary, essential and professional skills development etc.
Content of this section of CSP qualification includes: effective verbal communication, salutation in formal official environment, positive attitude/view, non-verbal communication, courteous behavior with stakeholders, communication skills for conversation through telephone, informal communication, grooming strategies and styles, communication management, personality enhancement, ethics and integrity, etc.
Content of this section of CSP qualification includes: importance of Life-skill development, written communication skills, selfappraisal, stress management, time management, social and interpersonal relationship, problem solving, presentation skills, joint discussion and interview skills, team work, work management, etc.
Basic Spoken English development is an integral part of CSP qualification. Developing spoken and communicative skills in different situations and circumstances has been emphasised through continual and final practical assessment of CSP.
